Community builds change. The central problem approached by shemakes is a systemic one, therefore needs a systemic approach for its resolution, not only from a spectre of society, but from different categories of stakeholders. Thus, the shemakes labs approach to community engagement works on a local level, creating opportunities for people to meet, learn and enable themselves and others through workshops that address gender inequality. Activities use the Quadruple Helix Framework that recognizes four major actors in the innovation system: science, policy, industry and society.
